Well this is my final entry for Australia. We have been in Cairns for the last 5 days (a little longer than needed here...in fact a day would probably do you!) We were staying at Gilligans, which is highly recommended - really nice rooms, tv and kitchen area etc. Stay here if you are going to Cairns! Well we've moved onto Airlie Beach - arrived via a night bus which is always fun! We decided to stay at Koala backpackers again as it had been ok in Hervey Bay...well the standard wasnt quite the same. Firstly we werent allowed to check in for hours as our room wasnt ready, however, when we were allowed in, it still hadnt been prepared. Apparently they are the last rooms to be sorted. Today we went on a day trip to Fraser Island - the largest sand island in the world. Its just off Hervey Bay, on the mainland. A little ferry took us over first thing in the morning. It felt like we were somewhere in Europe as everyone around us was speaking either French, Italian or an Eastern European language.
