Today, I once more spent the morning foraging with my friend in the forested mountains of the Grand Park. It was a nice lovely hike and very soon we found plenty of small elders weighed down by juicy berries. We gathered about a half a quart of elderberries with plans of making pancakes and elderberry syrup, and quite possibly some elderberry wine.
On the way home, I stopped by the market a block from my house and picked up a lovely bunch of oranges and kiwi at five dollars a bag. I recently invested in a juicer, bought with ThankYou points from my credit card, and it has certainly been well-worth it. A nice cold glass of melon juice is a wonderful refresher after an early fall hike. The more often I supplement my diet with fresh juices, the better and more energetic I feel.
Now to make the syrup and finish sorting out my refrigerator.
