We took a trip to the Mekong Delta, boarding a boat at My Tho for a tour of the surrounding islands. On the first island we walked through the jungle-like vegetation to find a restaurant by the water where we enjoyed a delicious sea-food lunch followed by a horse and cart ride through the countryside. We then saw some honey-bees, had honey tea with sugar-coated nuts and got to hold a huge snake!

We moved on to 'Coconut Island' where we tasted sweets and a spirit made from coconut and checked out the many other souvenirs that they manufacture from the coconut shells. On the final island we got to try a selection of locally-grown fruit while we were entertained with traditional folk music. The scenery from the boat was stunning and we enjoyed fresh coconut juice on the journey back - it was a fantastic day out
