The cruise is a week long, and has been very entertaining so far. Our first night we met our table group: Tiffany and Derek from Canada/Ohio, Michael and Laura from England, and last but not least, Peter and Lyn from Tasmania. All of these people are absolutely amazing and have interesting stories, but we decided our table would be blog free. Our first stop was Messina, Sicily, Italy. There, we just walked around the city. So, not too exciting, but different and interesting. Each night, the cruise has a different show put on. That night was singing and dancing to different musicals. The second day was all at sea. Mini golf, pingpong, basketball, soccer, rock climbing wall, soft serve ice cream... All very entertaining pass times ;). That night's show was Motown music. It was very energetic and fun. Our next stop on the cruise was Athens, Greece. We couldn't go without seeing Acropolis, so we asked many questions and arrived at the metro station. While riding, we met a man named Alex, who was incredibly helpful, and acted like a personal, no charge tour guide. He was walking to the same spot as us, Syntagma Square. This square is known for being the home of many protesters. We went our separate ways as we arrived at the parliament. There, we saw the changing of the guards. Each guard had tassels on his shoes, and there was a lot of kicking involved. When this finished, we walked through the national gardens. The trees were incredibly dense, fortunately, because the heat was intense. From the gardens, we walked to the Temple of Zeus and Hadrian's Arch. There was only a few columns left standing in the Temple of Zeus. Using our always handy map, we found a street leading us to Acropolis. At first, it felt like we weren't going the right way, but we found a sign saying "Acropolis". On the way up, we could overlook Athens. When we arrived at the top of the mountain, we saw Acropolis, the Parthenon, the theater of Dionysus, and more. Before we boarded our cruise, we sat at bench in the center of Athens and used their free wifi. We also ordered an AMAZING chocolate drink. Back on the boat, after dinner, we went to the show. Instead of the regular stage, we went to the iceskating rink. The show was called Ice Dancin'. It was INCREDIBLE. The next day was Kusadasi, Turkey. There was tons of rugs and carpets. We took a bus to Ephesus, to see the ancient ruins. Unfortunately, it was scorching hot outside. We hitchhiked the way back to Kusadasi with a Turkish family that did not speak English. We communicated by movement and pictures on our cameras. It was a bit scary, because the woman offered us BOTH a cigarette, to which we both shook our heads no. They dropped us off at the port. From the port, we looked at all the souvenir shops. The business men/women were all very aggressive and frightening. At a little market, I bought both my sister and I bracelets. I also tried Turkish Delight. Because we had time, we walked back to the ship to get the iPad. We found free wifi at the Starbuck's nearby. Walking back to the cruise, we found some good prices for more bracelets with the popular Turkish symbol of good luck on them. I bought four of them, for €1.80. Back on the cruise, we went to dinner. The show that night was a physical comedian. He was incredible at all the stunts he did. It's now Friday, and we're in Chania, Crete. It's absolutely beautiful... The water is a mix of many pure blues. At 2:30, we will board the ship.
