What a day!
Goodbye cold windy Bluff hello beautiful sunny Queenstown!
The drive into Queenstown takes you past stunning Lake Wakatipu, which has beautifully clear water and massive rainbow trout and salmon fish. We stopped off at yet another idyllic deserted pebble beach to enjoy the view J and then continued the journey with the impressive 'Remarkable Mountain Range' towering above us, which is where the snow appears in about 6 weeks time!
Queenstown is the nicest place we have visited so far, it has a real Whistler feel about it with the log cabin real fire vibe combined with extreme summer sports and a beautiful quaint pebble bay at the tip of the lake.
We parked up in Queenstown Gardens and made a quick visit to the local ice rink (scouting for possible work placements), then we played a quick game of Frisbee Golf, which is much harder than it sounds as the course is set on a hillside, and there are jaywalking pedestrians everywhere to avoid! I am ashamed to say we only managed the first 5 holes before the pull of wanting to see the rest of the town became too much to bear!
It didn't take long for us to get into the 'fly by the seat of your pants' mindset as we decide after only being there an hour to book ourselves onto the first extreme activity we can find…in our case the Kawarau Shot over jet boat! This was by far the best decision we could have made as it was so much fun! The jet boat flies around at speeds of over 85km/hr and the water can be as shallow as 2 inches you could actually hear it hitting the rocks underneath! The driver kept whipping the boat around for 360 spins and soaking everyone and it really was an adrenaline boost as we were literally flying around corners, through waves and nearly hitting rocks, bridges and trees along the way…awesome J
We returned to dry land freezing and with extremely wind swept volumised hair and had a cuppa at a lovely ice cream parlour of all places! We then had a look around the town and went for a highly recommended gormet pizza at Winnie's Place (thank you Joey) delicious J
Currently writing this under the stars parked up by the lake, how often in life I will be able to write that I'm not sure, but we really are having the best time!
Nite everyone
