Hi Everybody,
Well, the group has slowly disbanded in Goa and after four days of beaches and death defying Moped driving, there was only myself and A.J. left. We caught a train up to Mumbai early morning and landed at around 11pm. Thankfully we'd booked ahead and knew exactly where we were staying. On the down side was that it was a s***hole - literally. With what I can only assume was human excrement smeared down the wall inbetween the cracks in the plaster and cockroaches the size of small cats running around.
Needless to say the next night we decided to treat ourselves to a more 'swanky' hotel with flatscreen TV's, hot showers and room service.
After 2 days in Mumbai, it was time to move on. I said my goodbyes to A.J. who was flying to Beijing and time for me to go it alone and catch a 36 hour train journey north to Agra. i decided to do the adventurous thing and not bother booking ahead. Besides, with the Taj Mahal in Agra, it's the most tourist ridden place in India. I landed in Agra at 11pm and found a cheap hotel no problem.
I got up at 5am the next morning to catch the gates opening for the Taj to get the morning rays and the best photography before it was covered in westerners. Unfortunately everybody else had the same idea and I joined the queue of tourists. I can always photoshop the 1000 tourists out when I get home.
The Taj Mahal certainly doesn't disappoint and i spent the entire day walking around the grounds.
It's now the day after and once again it's time to move on and hopefully catch a train to Varanasi - classed as the spiritual heart of Hindu religion.
