Last night, we arrived in St Goar, Germany around 6:30.
The drive in was very beautiful along the Rhine valley. There were vineyards and lots of hilltop castles. The Rhine valley is the area that Riesling wine comes from. So after our dinner of beef and spatzle, we headed down the road to a 17th century wine cellar for a wine tasting. We had five types of wine going from a dry Riesling and ending with a very sweet ice wine. The man working there talked about the different harvesting and processes for each wine. It was really cool!
Then at 9:30 I went to bed for a much needed long sleep!
This morning was an early start again at 6:30, but much easier with 9 hours of sleep. After the continental breakfast, we visited a beer stein store selling collectible, handmade beer steins. They were really cool but also very expensive!
Also, a fun fact: St Goar is home to the largest free-hanging cuckoo clock. It's not really that big... There's just not another bigger one out there!
Now back on the bus, en route to Munich!
