We had a blast at Valle Nevado but figured we would make tracks at a different top rated mountain today. It was a scenic 2.5 hour drive to the Argentine border where Portillo is located. While at the same altitude as Valle Nevado, the mountains are completely different. Dramatic and steep, these slopes contrasted with the wide open rolling terrain from yesterday. Olympians from all over the world train in Portillo.
We spent the day skiing around the lake Lugana del Inca which was a spectacular sight in itself. BC had a few chuckles as we figured out how to ride up the teliski "lifts" from Tio Bob's. We could have spent the entire day sitting on this cliff side restaurant. Casa Bosque is now our favorite wine. We aren't quite sure if it is because we drank it on the side of a mountain in Chile or because it was really that great... We are willing to try it a few more times to find out!
