Meeting the man who has been repairing the trail to Tangbouche by donations alone was as a bit of a let down as I was expecting to see someone chiseling away at the rocks! Unfortunately it was just a man with a sign sitting on a chair in the middle of the path! The sign explained all the work he has done but if I'm honest I was reluctant to donate too much as the man was on his arse! I wouldn't mind a job that got me paid for sitting down... Woke up at 7.30 today to relax a bit before the trek up the mountain! The idea is if you climb high and sleep lower your body gets acclimatised to the altitude quicker! Woke up this morning with a bit of sunburn and as UV rays would only get stronger as atmosphere gets thinner I decided to invest in some after sun! It was a long day and meant to be one of the hardest, starting at 8am and climbing 800m to Namche, arriving at 4pm. I'm still in one piece but no guaranties of me feeling the same in a few days! Landing in Lukla was an incredible experience. From the window all I could see is a strip of concrete cut into the mountain- it looks impossible. Then as the landing strip went out of sight the plane dove sharply towards the mountain and the next thing I knew we were bouncing along the runway, going uphill before sharply turning to miss the wall at the end. I had a much more laid back morning by enjoying a relative lie in, picking up a few supplies from the corner shop and checking out of my hotel! A short taxi trip later I arrived at the Fuji Hotel.
