Our first stop down was surfers paradise, although it was all very modern it wasn't tasteful, pretty soulless and unfortunately the weather wasn't great! We stayed in a good hostel though and strangely bumped into some people we had met in Vietnam! We got conned into paying for a bar crawl which we went for as it was so cheap they said we'd have a BBQ but ended up being a few sausages and some bread! It started at 5 so all the places we went to were completey dead and drinks were a fortune, had a wonder around the next day but it poured down with rain so we were looking forward to moving on to byron bay!
