We spent another week in Sydney at Wesley college a very hogwart esk part of the university of Sydney. After a week of essentially dossing around and a few drunken nights out we finally got our act together and set out on our long awaited road trip. We had a bit of a plan of the places we wanted to stop at along the way but that was all we had. No accommodation just the car a little stove and a load of water and some instant noodles a bag of pasta and some pesto. Carly and Morganne had ditched their hopes of getting jobs in Sydney and thought best to join us. The first night we drove to Seal Rocks which is around 3hrs north of Sydney it was a beautiful secluded beach so the 4 of us parked the car cooked a standard meal of pasta and pesto and got ourselves comfortable for a nights sleep in the car! It was a great setup for the evening. I don't think any of us had more than about five hours of sleep but the experience was good fun regardless. Next we set out to get ourselves a little more organised and we picked up a cheap tent and some camp essentials. We arrived at south west rocks and we stayed for two nights as it was set next to a beautiful beach with not a single person to be seen for miles. The sea was pretty rough and there were some nasty rips so that put swimming off the cards but it was perfect. After our two night at South West Rocks we then set out for Coffs Harbour, luck was on our side when we set arrived in coffs harbour we were told about a free campsite at an old show ground. So we went about our business trying to find a showground in a small town called Corumba. It so turned out that the old showground is now a Rugby complex. We were a bit stuffed. It was then down to Morgane to work her charm with the groundsmen who happened to be at there at that time. It worked we pitched our tent just out of view of the grumpy neighbour who complains if people camp there! It must have been our day as they opened up the changing rooms for us to have a shower. Result! It turns out the rugby club is sponsored or somehow linked to Russell Crowe.
The next day we set out for Byron Bay. Byron bay well this is a interesting place full of tourists or shall I say backpackers is the best way to describe it. There is just a constants flow of buses and cars flocking to the renowned backpacker destination and yep we are another one of those. The beaches just seem to go for miles and miles such a lovely place. We didn't fancy the hustle and bustle of the busy campsites so headed a bit further out of town to a place called Brunswick Heads and set up camp by the river. We had been sharing the cooking out and Ben being Ben decided for a picnic at the lighthouse. It was a good shout as it was fantastic!. Life couldn't have been much better at this point sat around chilling out with a good group of friends. We had a mandatory photo at the most eastern point of Australian mainland just to tick it of the list of things to do.
Brisbane was next stop we arrived with no where to stay as we were waiting for a reply from a booking on airbnb. This seemed to be a very stressful situation as it was a Sunday afternoon and about 5o'clock we found ourselves with nowhere to stay. Won't be using airbnb in a hurry! We checking into an old school motel by the river for the night which was the first time we had a bed in over a week so a good night sleep was had all round. The next day we sorted a apartment to rent just outside the city for a week so we could make the most of what Brisbane had to offer. It turns out there is not vast amounts but the area is lovely and hilly as we found out when we rented some bikes one afternoon. Morgane was less than impressed by the fact that Ben, Carly and I had decided to race up one of the hills she had a bit of a paddy. A reassurance of the fact that we would remain together and we were back on our way again. The 27th of January was Morgans birthday whoop. During the day we went to the Koala sanctury, Katie joined us as she was visiting brisbane. Katie is a friend of the girls who they had met whilst traveling in Asia. The Koala santicury was worth visiting it provided some nice pictures for the photo gallery even though they did stink! The evening we had planned a not so secret cocktail party then off for a bit of a bar crawl in the fortitude valley area. It was a top evening all round. It dawned upon us during the night out it was our last night out together. We made the most of it and all of us hang a steady day the next day! Ben had decided Australia wasn't for him and was going to be heading home. Bit of a hiccup to the plan but life goes on. The 28th of Janurary was Australia Day just an excuse for Australians to have another day of drinking is what I can make of it! We happily joined in with the celebrations and that was that!
