We arrived back in Queenstown after a 560km round trip just to go to Cadbury world :P on 30th June. We went to Jucy HQ and sorted out our next few days in the car with them then after a very yummy Burger King pulled into a quiet street to sleep. The police drove past at one point though and put on their sirens which made us think we were in trouble but we went for a sneaky drive and parked back in the same place :P.
Next day we lazed about in Lake Wanaka waiting for 4pm so we could get kitted out with all our ski gear for the next day! We definitly did not have the height of fashion gear (the coats were older than we are but at least they weren't the old onepieces!) Next morning we had some porridge for energy and went off skiing! We spent the morning on a lower slope as I was trying to reteach Cerys but only after her promising not to shout at me hehe! We had a great day and did some of the mountain slopes in the afternoon. We had a second day skiing and the weather was amazing. I even managed to get over the back and do some blacks. There was lots of snow and not a cloud in the sky :) couldn't ask for better! We both had our spills including Cerys doing the splits and getting stuck like that haha! That night we stayed in a motorpark for the first time and had a long overdue shower!
We started our drive back to Christchurch next day stopping at Lake Tekapo after driving past some increbible scenery (see the many driving photos!). We went ice skating that evening and it was Cerys' turn to laugh at me and try to teach me. Of course I fell over and had a lot of close calls hehe (Bambi on ice would be appropriate). That night we managed to run the battery flat ... again! so we had to walk in -3degrees to the nearest petrol station, borrow some jump leads and then Cerys showed her metal or maybe just herself and managed to rope in a random guy to jump start the car hehe.
We arrived in Christchurch and went to the Antartic Centre on our last day. We thought it would be fun to experience an Antartic storm and quickly changed our minds after standing in -28degrees for 5 minutes! We also joined a special penguin tour and got to get close and personal with one blue penguin in the hospital which Cerys loved:)
We returned our trusty Jucy camper much to our sadness and slept over night in the airport ready for our 4am flight next morning back to Australia!
