Up at 6:30 this morning! (for Cerys' benefit) so we could be up, ready and breakfast eaten for 8am to start our trip into the Blue Mountains!
We started our trip at the base of the mountains to see if we could spot some kangaroos, but we had no luck. Instead we had to settle for a few butterflies and and particularly nosy kookaburra! However the feeling of disappointment didn't last for long as at our next stop we got to see some of the most amazing views of the Blue Mountains! (there are some photos and we'll get them up as soon as possible, we promise! haha). And our guide explained to us about why they're called the blue mountains, something to do with water escaping and light refracting etc? Ask Matty Smith for more information hehe!
Then it was time for the hard work, but only after we had had some butties (made to order aswel I'd like to add! hehe). We had a 3+ (yes thats a 3) hour trek from the top of the mountains through rainforest to the bottom of the Australian Grand Canyon (that is the actual name, these aussie people struggle with thinking up their own names we reckon!). We've got some great photos, though maybe the older generation will appreciate them more:P!
Still no kangaroos but we did get to see a a few crayfish (I was up for catching them for tea but wasn't allowed haha), a couple of dragons anddd we were able to see some white parrots called cockatoos with a yellow crest. (For all those wirral people it looked suspiciously like a fin to me!!!)
We finished off the day with a short trip to see the Three Sisters and Katooba Falls annddd Cerys and I treated ourselve to some MASSIVE ice creams! haha though neither of us needed dinner for ageessss after!
Hope alls well at home!
Lots of love Cerys and Sam
