Day 17 of our European adventure
We got up early to finish up the last minute packing before checking out of our hotel to wait for our taxi! I had reservations about whether or not Ricardo ( our taxi driver) would remember to pick us up but he showed up right at 7:00 am as we had discussed yesterday! We got to the airport & had to wait to get checked in but finally got everything checked in & our suitcases weren't even overweight which I was worried about! We went to a restaurant where we enjoyed a breakfast complete with their form of hot chocolate! It's sort of like heating up a can of Hershey's syrup--very rich & dark in color! After eating we just sat & waited to board the plane! We finally boarded the plane however there were a few maintenance issues they had to take care of so we ended up leaving Barcelona an hour & 1/2 late! After 8 hours on that plane we arrived in Philadelphia & went through customs & found our next gate only to hear that our next flight had been postponed due to bad weather in the area! So we decided to go have a bite to eat at a restaurant near our gate! When I finished I went out by the gate & heard the last call for boarding for our flight! Evidently the weather cleared faster than they thought so they started boarding earlier! We grabbed our carry-on luggage & just barely made the plane! The plane moved out for the takeoff & then stopped & they announced we couldn't take off because of lightning in the area! So after sitting there for another 15 minutes we finally took off! Our flight was very bumpy most of the way to Dallas! Due to all the delays we thought we had missed our connection in Dallas however when we got there we realized that this flight had been delayed too! It turned out that the plane we took from Philadelphia to Dallas was the same plane that we were to take to Kansas City so we didn't miss our connection! Praise The Lord for watching out for us! We arrived in Kansas City at midnight & were greeted by Jon & Sarah & Annie! We were very tired ( we had been up for 25-26 hours by this time) but very happy to be home! Thank you all for reading about our adventures & most of all for praying for us! Time to start planning the next adventure after some rest now!
