Day 78 - Another day, another boat trip. After our free breakfast at Beaches we walked up to catch the shuttle bus to Abel Point where we got on board our boat and drank tea and ate biscuits as we cruised out through the clouds and only a hint of rain to the Whitsundays. After picking up more people at Daydream Island our first stop was Hamilton Island where we stood in the somewhat heavy rain as Catherine fed bread to the big fish underneath us. The glasss bottom boat ride was a little murky but we saw some interesting corals under the sea. After this we put on our gorgeous stinger suits (whilst constantly being attacked by March flies) and snorkelled out in the very chilly waters. An amazing variety of fish were to be seen and, despite the cold, Catherine had a great time out in the water. We managed to warm up over lunch of salads and meats followed by yummy fresh fruit - although the choppy waters made eating this all a little difficult! Next up was the stunning Whitehaven Beach, we had been told by Myles how beautiful it was and the pure white sands certainly lived up to our expectations. Even the sun managed to come out a little as we walked up the beach before sitting down, doing some exciting acrobatics, having our picture taken by the awful photographer, avoiding more March flies, writing messages in the sand, and generally messing round on the beach and in the water as well as admiring the view. We waded through the sea to get back onto the boat and after tea and more biscuits we left the boat for the last stop of Daydream Island. We walked the length of the Resort but sadly most bits were shut so we looked in the reef area at the rays and fish, tried to find Olivia chocolate (she wasn't amused when she saw the price!) but the true highlight was the children's play park! After a long day we got back on board the boat and sailed back to Abel Point.
