Rainy beaches in Costa Rica
The rain season has started here in Costa Rica, and that is decreasing the oportunities of what to do. I have now been five days in Playa Samara and now I'm in Dominical. Both are smaller beachtown, and when the rain is pouring down half of the day, there isn't too many activities to do.
In Playa Samara there were some nice restaurants and cafés, though. So as I couldn't go on many tours there because of the weather at least I could eat some delicioous food, drink some good wine (Frontera - caubernet sauvignon - from Chile) and have a bunch of cappucinos.
The beach was nice too, though the waves were not as good for surfing as the travelling guides told. I think it's the season as well as the rain is bad now, so it's a good thing that Jamaica and the States are around the corner. :-)
Here in Dominicalit's pretty much the same as Playa Samara. It's a bit smaller here which gives me even fewer things to do, but it's nice beach with lots of palms and trees, and there's a lot of local costarican people camping with bonfires on the beach which gives a nice atmosphere. So eventhough it's raining here, it's nice. The weather is warm too, but of course it's very humid.
I can definetely recommend both Playa Samara and Dominical, but be sure to visit between december and april, where the weather and the waves are at it's best. It just gives you more to do.
Safe travels and pura vida!
