Carmen's Adventure
Date: 15th June 2011
Place: Nha Trang to Jungle Beach
Weather: Sunny
We got up today expecting to have a beach day with the girls in the beds above. We knew we would be checking out but didn't know if we would be going to Hoi An or Jungle Beach, it all depended on whether or not we could find a way to get to Jungle Beach because we really wanted to go but it is way out of the way. We walked around for while looking for the bus company our open ticket was with to see if they could either do us a deal to get to Jungle Beach or book our ticket for the next bus.
We couldn't find it anywhere though, and Vietnamese people just cant make up their minds on which way it is; they all point in opposite directions! In the end we had to go back to the hostel to check out. I went to a travel agents whilst Lucy was checking out though to see if they did transport and it turned out they did quite cheaply. She said that we could get the bus from Nha Trang to Hoi An to pick us up on the highway near Jungle Beach on the way so we didn't need transport back. She also knew where the bus office was so we walked to them. Turned out they did a cheaper option of transport to Jungle Beach anyway so we got a taxi from there straight away!
We didn't get a chance to say goodbye to the girls though which was a shame but it was nice to get out of Nha Trang which hadn't been as good as we expected. The taxi driver had no idea where he was going though and was not happy when the price on the meter went way over the price we had agreed on before we got in and we refused to pay the difference. He couldn't do anything about it though when we got there and just got out of the taxi and left.
Jungle Beach is awesome! Prettiest place yet, by far! In the middle of nowhere, everything is made out of bamboo and its sooo relaxing; you don't have to do anything. We were shown around a few different huts before we chose ours and then just crashed on the beach and had a sunbathe in what was left of the sun part of the day.
Dinner was the main event of our day and it was incredible! All of the meals are included there and they are impressive meals! We got unlimited amounts of rice, and 4 different foods to share between two of us. It was always so much and it was the same each meal time and for all lunches!
We met some of the other people staying there as well then because everyone has lunch and dinner together around one big table. They had some cards so we spent a couple of hours learning new games. I was a good girl and stuck to my no drinking whilst at jungle beach rule and drank water when I had to drink in the drinking games, it was still good fun. We then went to the beach and made a camp fire and sat watching the Moon, as there was an eclipse on or something, but I got impatient and didn't see it right through so went to bed around 1am.

Place: Jungle Beach
Weather: Sunny but very windy
I set my alarm for breakfast to make sure we didn't miss it! Cant waste the food you've paid for!! Breakfast was awesome but not as great as the other meals. I had French bread with mushed fruit which was pretty nice.
After that we went in the sea and met a couple of Swedish girls who had been working in Hanoi hospital as an exchange thing with their University. They then decided to spend the extra two weeks they had travelling through the rest of Vietnam. The sea was amazing. So clear and all sand underneath so you don't hurt your feet. The beach was deserted apart from some locals that are way further down. It is in a kind of small bay with lots of hills all around and is really pretty.
I sunbathed for a few hours and ate and ate some more, basically my day consisted of doing nothing…switching between beach and hammock. I even had a dog join me on my mat on the beach at one point. The dogs there were amazing. When people decided to walk up to the waterfall the dog would go with them and show them the best way to go.
The saying there is that you get extremely fat and extremely lazy. Well its true because all I did for literally the entire time was either lie around or eat. It was time for dinner again before we knew it and it was another huge banquet. After dinner some of the others had gone for a night swim but we went down to the beach when they had finished and just had a chat for a while. It was so nice to be somewhere where theyre not trying to force drink down you or get you to take a mototaxi ride. There's no horns constantly going off and you don't have to do a thing. Paradise!

Place: Jungle Beach
Weather: cloudy
Today we had planned on doing the walk to the waterfall but I had been ill all night and had hardly slept. It had been majorly windy that night which didn't help. I had felt feverish which was worrying because that's what happens when you get Dengue fever but I didn't have a rash thankfully so I didn't bother going to the doctors.
After breakfast I went to try and sleep it off whatever it was I had. I still felt awful the whole day and was not looking forward to our overnight bus. This was out last day in Jungle Beach because we couldn't afford it anymore, I was so gutted because I didn't even have an appetite so didn't make the most of lunch or dinner. Once dinner was finished we got a lift to the highway with a couple who had been staying there too. We had to wait a while at a petrol station but we were entertained by the cutest puppy ever! Then the bus showed up and there were no beds left! Thankfully the driver moved a few Vietnamese people who maybe just hadn't paid for a bed so we all got a place. I didn't sleep a wink!
