Today we travelled from Westport to Galway. Ireland is very beautiful, not quite the rich history as Scotland but interesting none-the-less. Walked a mountain named in honor of St. Pat.(Croagh Patrick). Apparantly tens of thousands will walk it during certain dates. It is covered in sharp rocks and many do it barefooted. I walked about a quarter of what the group did as my knee is damaged and it is painful to walk downhill so I've been a bit less adventerous then I usually would be. At the base of the mountain is the National Famine Memorial in honor of all those who dies and those who left Ireland from 1845-1849. Travelled through the Doolough Valley to Leanane and had a stop at the local pub for lunch. We thought the locals were speaking Gaelic but it turned out to be heavy Irish. Made af ew photo stops at Kylemore Abbey and Ashleigh Falls. Went to a pub here last night where the local favorite Glasgow Celtic was featured on tv. If you are Catholic you cheer for Celtic in the Scottish league (I hear that the Irish league is not that good). If you are Protestant then you cheer for the Glasgow Rangers and God forbid that these two groups should ever meet on the street.
I'm told we are heading to Doohlin? We'll see when we get there.
