hello!
apologies before i begin as i only have 10minutes so it's going to be brief!!
ok so i spent my last day with andy in bangkok, visiting floating markets, the bridge over the river kwai and the tiger temple! quite a strange mix of emotions for the day... fun shopping on the river in a boat and haggling! sadness at the bridge due to the history of how many people died in horrible working and living conditions and then wonder at the tigers but a little fear too as they could easily finish me off as a meal! Tigers are trained in the morning and then fed so there is not such a danger and they are also chained up. Its sad that tigers are in captivity too but they have actually been rescued and woiuldn't survive in the wild...so i was told! anyway got to touch them and have photos beside them and also was able to feed milk to a tiger cub. one cool experience.
left andy in the evening to overnight train it to chaing mai. stayed for a night, experienced the awesome night market before starting my journey the next day to laos. one night on the border and then i took a speed boat along the river mekhong to luang prabang. lp is a beautiful french colonial town, buildings beautiful and vibe very relaxed. did some temple sight seeing and took in the market, aswell as watching the man-u vs chelsea final at 2-4.30 in the morning no less with 3 laos guys!!!
next stop was vang vieng where i did a wonderful half day tour through rural villages, went caving and then had a truly western afternoon tubing where u float down the river and get pulled into riverside bars and drink and take on their rope swings across the river! not much need to drink as the adrenalin from the swings had me buzzing! even played volleyball in one bar...loved it! then in the evening i went to the local bar with the group i'd tubed with!
finally onto vietiane, capital of laos, before flying to siem reap in cambodia. had a day to discover the temples of angkor, i visited the three main ones... the impressive angkor wat, bayon, and ta phrom where tomb raider was set! evening---tested out the local cuisine, khmer food..pretty tasty!
next.... phoen penh, capital of cambodia where i met up with jon and eve who i travelled s.america with! great to see them... we visited an orphanage, and i took in the sights of the killing fields and the prison 21.... very distressing. especially as it really wasn't long ago!!
then flew to bangkok.... sorted indian visa and frequented a ping pong show...which upset me!
then onto india. in mumbai now!!!
will update u on india soon!
