Alter a short flight and two buses from the Airport (1.5 dollars - bargain) we arrived at the South Beach Hostel. Was a good location, 3 blocks from South Beach and a block from Ocean Drive which is like the strip with all the restaurants, bars and clubs.
Our Hostel had a bar… happy hour between 6 and 8. So we headed out to explore and came back for a couple of happy hour drinks. After a few coronas had went onto our tab we realised that it was only Bud that was 1.5 dollars and Coronas were full price! Nightmare!!
We had only booked a couple of nights at the South Beach Hostel luckily….as it was still under construction. We were woken up early on a morning by workmen putting floors down so we decided to move 3 blocks to the Jazz Hostel.
Jazz was a bargain 15 dollars a night and our first night there coincided with Italian night, all you can eat Lasagne and Sangria for 10 dollars. As with most of the hostels we got collared by an annoying American called Eric. By the end we were glad to leave Miami, ha! He followed us around and told us how bored he was with life every 10 minutes. To top it all off he stayed in our room, so we got no peace!!!
We took the airboat out to the Everglades for some Alligator hunting which was quality, the trip was only 9 until 1 so he spent the rest of the afternoon playing football and Frisbee on the beach, plus a swim to cool down occasionally.
Prices in Miami were crazy so we ate lots more pasta at the Hostel and found cheap lager at the supermarket which we mostly drank on the beach at night.
