We need jumpers on this morning, it's the first time in 6 weeks. We are a bit over the heat and appreciate the cooler night and morning.
Up and off early again this morning. The Devils Marbles was the first stop. The Devils Marbles are great big marble shaped boulders, thus the name.
Big man walk, a small road house on the way was quite unique. The artist has made these massive sculptures that stand out km's away. The one on the hill is an Aboriginal Man standing on the lookout with his spear. The other sculpture is of an Aboriginal woman, child and a goanna.
We arrived into Alice Springs mid-afternoon. The township of Alice Springs has not changed much; the noticeable difference is there are many more residential apartments and houses.
There is a big police presence, yet we saw (from the safe distance in our car) one local man yielding a baseball bat up in front of another vehicle. The caravan park we stay is one we stayed at years ago, its close into town on the Stuart Hwy. It now has high security fences with razor wire around the top with gates that lock after 7pm.
We saw water from the recent rains sitting in the Todd River; the Todd River is normally a drive riverbed.
