We spent the 27th going around Karijini National Park, as recommended by Drew Kirk from Neighbours. It is a series of large gorges converging at one point, one of the natural highlights of WA. The waterfalls were fairly impressive, nothing on a grand scale though. The most exciting thing was climbing through Hancock Gorge to get to Kermit's Pool. The walls of the gorge rose so high above you and the passages through became narrow and at some points we had to spider walk with the water rushing underneath us...I was scared, don't know about the other guys. We stayed the night at a small mining town called Tom Price.
28th August and my birthday! Woke up to balloons, presents and cake from the boys. Exmouth was the destination and we managed to get there in time to catch the sunset. Perched up by the lighthouse with a few cold beers we watched the sunset...with the added bonus of humpback whales jumping on the horizon. Treated ourselves to a sit down chinese, it was a special day to be fair. The main reason we came to Exmouth was for the snorkelling but the round trip to the best areas was too far so we saved it for Coral Bay. Instead, we settled for a game of golf Australian outback style...no grass on fairways & greens and kangaroo's & emu's running about.
