'a matter of life and death'
(Written (very) ex post- using diary extracts)
After leaving Swakopmund we went to a camp at a place called Damaraland which is in a really remote location in Namibia in a national park. I stay up after everyone else has gone to bed to take in the setting- the moon is full, and the landscape around us is so vast. I see a vertically falling meteor for the first time. Spend a day at a cheetah park, before getting to Etosha National Park where we are now. I spend a number of hours in my sleeping bag late at night sitting at a big watering hole where the animals come to drink- at which I see an impala killed by some lions. The sound of the impala dying, its final few cries of life, are ones that'll remain with me forever- seeing a lion kill is something that is really quite rare. We move on towards Botswana next.
