'getting muddy in the mara'
(Written (very) ex post- using diary extracts)
We drive from Tanzania to Nairobi, where we stay for a night- visiting 'Carnivores' restaurant. Similar to the place we went to in Vic Falls- but not quite as good (and no warthog this time). Next day we first head to Lake Nakuru National Park, passing parts of the Great Rift Valley on the way. We then travel to the Maasai Mara, which is quite a ride, and get to see lots of the wildebeest which are migrating at this time (coming from the Serengeti), and spend a night in a beautiful camp. Next day, on a hunt to spot some leopards (the only one of the big 5 we haven't seen so far in Africa) we manage to get bogged down at a point, apparently right in the middle of lion territory- but some help from local Maasai, and a 4x4, we manage to push our truck out the mud. I end up covered in Maasai Mara mud churned up from the truck's wheels. Spend more time seeing lots of animals and the landscape, before heading back to Nairobi.
