Senator Bob Dole fought to establish this memorial to recognise those American Servicemen lost in both the Pacific and Atlantic Conflicts. Weirdly the most decorated Unit in the American Military was the 442nd, who consisted only of Americans of Japenese ancestory. There were 120,000 American Japenese citizens interred during WWII
