Having got up early again we were in good spirits for our flight to El Salvador then on to Quito later that evening.
My morning boogie song was carefully chosen to increase the lifting of spirits (blurred lines and it did the job beautifully) and we set off to the airport in good time so we would have time to sit and have breakfast as it was going to be a long day.
Then at Washington airport it all went wrong (again!)......
Check in couldn't find us on the flight and also could not find our luggage (nope, it wasn't headed to El Salvador as promised after all!).
80 mins later we were eventually found seats on the flight and then had to go and track down what had happened to our bags by heading back to baggage.
Anyway, long story short.
Our bags had gone to Houston and we had to hope they would arrive in Quito as they had to be returned and sent on.
All this kafuffle meant we had to run to our gate and only had minutes to gran whatever we could for breakfast.
Darn you United Airlines - you continue to suck!
On the bright side, upon landing in El Salvador, we hired a driver called Andre and did a quick tour of Downtown and then went for a nice steak in San Salvador (the steak knife was so big it looked like a lethal weapon!).
Whilst we were eating, a tropical downpour hit which was amazing. The thunder was so loud and low we felt the vibration and the lightening was in sheets.
Two short powercuts later and we headed to the mall to kill some time whilst we waited for Andre to pick us up and we drove back to the airport for our flight.
So, did we make it to Quito?! - Yes we did! We checked into our hotel at 1:30am and I managed to grab 4hrs sleep!!!.
So, a total of 51.5 hrs later from coach station in Bournemouth to hotel in Quito, and we made it!!!!
Whoop, Hola Hola!!!
Tune in again for the next instalment....!
