Hey all,
Sorry I have been so lazy with updating this blog but I have been pretty busy. Last time I updated it I was leaving turkey for Budapest, since then I have done so much stuff and I don’t really have time to go in to any detail of any of it so I will just give a quick summary up till now and then try to update it more frequently from here on.
I spent 3 days in Budapest which was pretty cool before flying over to Geneva to spend about a week of detoxing at my uncle and aunties place. From Geneva I flew to Edinburgh and stayed there for about a week with a couple of day trips to Loch Ness and Glasgow. I then made my way down through England over about a week stopping of in York, Manchester, a couple of nights on the piss with some mates in Birmingham before arriving in London, I did a bit of sight seeing early on in London, surprised a good mate for his birthday party and then most of time there was spent drunk or partying with friends that live there. I was in London for 3 consecutive weekends there with the weeks in between spent in Ireland (3 day southern Ireland tour covering Dublin, Galway, Cliffs of Mohr and some other place) as well as a quick trip back to Geneva where My uncle and aunty took me to a local music festival where I got to see ZZ top rock out.
From London, I then met up with my mate Shannon and we started our Contiki which was pretty insane, 14 days, about 8 countries, plenty of sights stuff all sleep, long days in uncomfortable bus seats, big nights on the grog and plenty of new mates, mainly Aussies and Saffers.
The tour stopped of in the following places Paris (Louve, Mona Lisa, Notre Damn, Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triumph, The Thinker Statue) Contiki’s Chateau de Crux (Big night on it with a couple of different Contiki groups, wine tasting and experiencing the most foul shot I have ever taken made from the waste of the local wine production methods in the area) The French Rivera (a day spent on the beach at Nice, night at Monaco and Monte Carlo casino where I got up as well) Florence (where we had a city walk and saw a life size sculpture of David, didn’t have time to see the real thing) Rome (Coliseum, Roman Forum, St Peters Square, Vatican, Sistine Chappell, The Pope mobile and the Pope and then an awesome night on the grog dancing on tables etc at the caravan park) Venice for a gondola ride And an evening wondering around before eventually the heavens opened up and drenched us all, Austria, stopped of at the Swarovski crystal museum which was amazing, it was like a psychedelic drug influenced display of crystals. We then went to Munich where we had a night in a beer hall learning the traditional German cheers song, The Rhine Valley for a relaxed evening and some wine tasting before hitting Amsterdam for some mischief. Spent 2 nights there, watched a sex show, experienced a coffee shop and then spent a day checking out some sights including a bike ride through the canals. Also went to the Leaning Tower of Pisa in there somewhere in there as well. I said my good byes to Shannon and the rest of the Contiki crew and had a free day to myself before heading to Prague.
Prague was awesome even though it made it a real pain in the ass to get to Pamplona, in Prague I did not get up to much just a tour of the city, a pub crawl, a couple of jogs, made friends with a group of Brazilian girls and then headed off to Pamps via 2 nights in Barcelona.
Pamplona was insane, the opening ceremony makes it worthwhile going to witness in itself, the Spaniards are crazy and know how to party, I have never experienced such a crazy street party, dancing bands through the street, everyone throwing beer and sangria over everyone else, people stage diving of balconies, was insane. Unfortunately I had my camera knocked off which had some awesome footage on it but will still be able to get some photos from mates.
The next morning I went in to watch the first bull run and to decide wether or not id do it the next day, it was pretty crazy and definitely saw a heap of people mowed down but I come up with some tactics and decided id do it the next day. Each bull run has 6 angry bulls and 6 ball less ones to guide them through the run. After each run they bring out 6 steers individually in to the bull ring for the crowds to to taunt with, play with and if you were unlucky enough get belted by. The little ones in the ring was really entertaining and was great to see people getting smashed. That arvo I went back in to town for a couple and ended up bumping in to a couple of mates from by previous travels and ended up getting blind again.
The next morning was run day as we were heading of later that arvo. I had to wait at my spot in front of the town hall for about an hour before being aloud to move further down the run. It was so packed and I have never been around so many scared people, everyone looked like they were about to cry. With about 10 to 8, they let people move further down the track, I started from about 50m from dead mans corner so that I could get past there before the bulls went past me. Then all of a sudden the rocket went and the bulls were let out of the pen. Everybody panicked and started bolting after a little while everybody was pressing up against the sides of the walls out of fear before the bulls were even that close, I got pushed in about 3 deep and managed to see the first group stampede by after that I hurdled a couple of poor b******s on the floor and made a b line for the bull ring, I got in there just before the last group and scored a spot on the wall to the sides.
After the bulls ran through it was time for the steeds to come out and although much smaller they were doing some serious damage to a couple of people, got with in about 1m of the b****** and that was close enough for me. That arvo we headed off to free camp at a little beach side car park about half an hour away on route to Bilbao music festival. The festival was awesome, 3 days camping with probably the Ting Tings, Basement Jaxx, Chris Cornell and Placebo. From there we started to make our way to Portugal to cruise around the coast line, we scabbed a lift with one of my mates friends who have a camper van which meant we were to spend a night in a tent at a Spanish truck stop which was quite an experience, really loving the gypsy lifestyle and looking forward to the next couple of months of bumming around.
I am currently staying in a caravan park in Peniche which is on the coast of Portugal my mate Brera and a couple of his mates relaxing for a couple of days before heading down to Lagos to get fly blown drunk for a week. Me and my mate are also hoping to buy a car down there so we can cruise around and be full on Gypsies for the next couple of months..
Hopefully I will be able to get on here more often from here on in and give you a bit more details.
Cheers
