DAY 2 CHIANG MAI - LAOS! OK!! Sooo... we were rudely awoken by the horrible sound of cockerals squaking at about 5am nooooooooooo!!! One sounded like a normal cockeral, the other sounded as if it was dying!! We attempted to go back to sleep, then the horrible alarm clock woke us up at 7am (alarm clocks should only be allowed when you're going to work, not when you're on holiday boo)! We were so tired, the girls had drunk far more beer lao than me, and the phrase BEER LAO... OWWW became a comical phrase hahaha!!! We had a gorgeous breakfast of coffee and a doughnut that was covered in sesame seeds insuead of sugar, we felt so healthy haha, they were yum!!
So we set off with the boys (who didn't feel their best) in the open back taxi... well taxi of death and the road of doom to be precise haha!!!!! The road was sooo bumpy, and we were literally on the edge of a big mountain cliff haha. Rach kept on putting her head in her hands and making wimpering noises... at one point she actually confessed to crying aaahhh!! Me n Al were fine, I (mieks) actually loved it, felt like a true traveller, scenery was actually really nice. So we travelled in the taxi for about an hr and a half until we finally came to where we'd get the slow boat from. We chillded out for a bit, waiting for the boat to arrive!
Sooo, the boat arrives. We all hiked down the hill to get on with out big backpacks. The boat looked like it was filled with refugees and we were just going to become one of them. Us girls and all the boys plonked all our stuff down and had to sit on the floor, all the other bargainers had taken the seats boo. To start off with the journey was fine, we chatted, read our books etc. Then the boat got rocky on one side, getting water all on the boat. Thank god we were on the other side. Then a lovely guy (err no, more like waste of space junky) called Marion (girls name, no?) starts talking to me n Rach. He was absolutely wasted, high on all drugs imaginable. He grabbed my book off me, read my palm, chatted s***, quite scary haha!
The boat just got colder n colder n colder, had to actually put socks, shoes, jumpers on etc! Some ppl said they'd been on the boat for 2days so we felt better that ours was only 6hrs haha! After what seemed like forever we finally arrived in Laos!! We got a taxi with the boys into the centre and then split up to find our guest house. Stranegely we ended up walking into the exact one that Liam (who we have nicknamed manw**** as he has been with 4thai women in the space of a week!) and Derek did!
We were STARVING so went and had gorgeous cheeseburgers n chips, we had actually craved them throughout the boat trip!! We met up with the welsh boys at around 8ish, had a couple of drinks, red wine ooh, and headed off to bed. We were soooo gonna make the most of our lie-in the next day mmmmmm truly feel like we're travellers now haha!!! xxxxxxxx
