HI Bek. Welcome to Sydney. If you want a reasonably priced meal that you don't have to cook yourself, then walk down the street from the Three Monkeys, towards Darling Harbour, then turn left in to China Town at Sussex Street and go in to one of the underground Chinese food halls. There's a huge choice of meals for around $8, which I calculate to be around 3 or 4 pound. You may also find a cheaper pub in Chinatown. Most of the drinking venues that look trendy or happening in the city CBD are going to be pretty expensive because they attract tourists and cashed up young professionals. You could try getting in to a club as a visitor, eg city tattersalls, sydney rsl, the bowls club etc. Might not have the same atmosphere as the other places though! Cheers Gwen Wilson
