Making Thai Sweets
At 4 AM, Mae-Wan, Andy's mother, shows Bev how to fold one of the kinds of sweets we will be selling at the market. The filling is sticky rice flour flavored with an herb, rolled with shredded sweetened coconut, and dipped in coconut milk. One sweetened ball is then dropped onto a banana leaf that is folded and stapled. Mae-Wan made it look so easy! (It was NOT!)
