I'm in disguise as I'm shamefully aware of my obsessively frequent messaging. But dear son of mine, thou becomest steadily more incomprehensible. What is't with thy CPRs, AFLs and other most various and bemusing acronyms? I am all bafflement.
I tremble for your soul among these savage Oz inhabitants and there wicked songs and kinky dress codes. Beware! x
PS Love to that DT scoundrel

Kuala Lumphur, 23 hour train rides, midnight arrivals in exotic locations, Cairns....this epic journey never slacks; if anything it seems to gather momentum, like some mighty, ocean swell. How will this small island here ever manage to contain such a hero of high adventure?
Sorry, I'm jet-lagged myself, and in true Mum style, slightly over-emotional.
So, Oz at last? When will you meet with David T? I see you're going to Cairns first, so presumably you'll travel down the East coast from there and meet him in the South? Or is he coming up? Have you got the addresses from Poit?
Whoops! Forgot I'm not writing an email!
Enjoy this last month of your trip, darling....and continue to KEEP SAFE!!
Love Mum xx

Am awed by the pictures you've taken, by the experiences you're having ... your perspective on life must have changed pretty dramatically and permanently I should think? Sending you big hugs n love n looking forward to reading next blog! Great stuff!

Hey Beno! You're having a CRIMINALLY good time. Lulu and I just read your Friday 23rd blog post together. We laughed out loud. What escapades. Strangely, the front page of the Independent on Sunday, which I bought to read on my flight, was about Cambodia's Killing Fields. Apparanelt, the are bringing Kaing Guek Eav, otherwise known as Duch, to trial. He is the first senior Khmer Rouge figure to go on trial. Duch was in charge of the notorious Tuol Sleng jail where thousands were tortured before being sent to the killing fields. Duch was sentenced yesterday, I believe. He was expected to get life. It's all happeneing in Phnom Penh. There are four other senior Khmer Rouge figures awaiting trial.
It's just unbelieveable that it has taken this long for justice. The paper says that a major problem is the fact that many Western regimes were implicated. Britain and the US opted to support the Khmer Rouge against the Communist Vietnamese.
Anyway, see what you can glean from what's in the papers there.
It's lovely to be here with Lulu in beautiful WV. It's been way too long since we've been over here together. I'll never forget the first time with you - you waking up on the first morning and seeing that bee humming bird! You were ecstatic.
We must plan a visit together soon.
Meanwhile, I'll drink a toast to you at the Lost Dog!
Love from me... and from Lulu, who misses you SO much. (Girls are at camp). xxxxx

All sounds so dream-like; episodic and momentous. I do worry about the black face - that means black lungs, doesn't it? Sorry! Mums will be mums etc etc. Also, thaty's the only liver you'll ever have, remember! Love Mum x

Is that burn getting better? I could hardly bear to read about the accident which caused it. Mui Ne sounds lovely though. Jonny said he could barely bring himself to follow your blog cos it made him feel so jealous. When I went down there Lou was celebrating the end of her A levels...sent your love. Lou and Jono delighted at the thought of you making it to Cornwall.
Poit has the name and address of a really nice contact in Sydney who would be v happy to have you to stay. xxxxx
