Breakfast at 8am leave at 9am. Plan was for all to take the Timmelsjoch (2509m) crossing the Italian/Austrian border. The pass was the longest one yet, with some parts through the pine trees, then a run alongside the mountain with a few hair pins to reach the top. The Stelvio still has the most hair pins. To get the pass sticker we had to pay the 14 Euro toll. The drop on the other side was into a lovely Austrian valley. Lunch stop was at a supermarket, which had a great selection of sandwiches and hot food. We sat outside next to a small valley with a creek running through it. The creek had a walk way across it, which Belinda did not cross, David took a few snaps.
After lunch was a run through a valley followed by the run into Innsbruck. Very old hotel next to the main bridge in the centre of Innsbruck. Built in 1475, needless to say the rooms were varied. Some had single beds and part ensuites, thus having to share the bathrooms. Luckily we had a room with a full ensuite. After washing away the road, with a shower, we ventured out to see a liitle of Innsbruck only to be caught in a thunderstorm, we stopped in a phone booth for 30 minutes waiting for it to abate a little. Ran back to the hotel for a drink at the bar followed by a turkish kebab from the shop around the corner.
After dinner when the rain had stopped we went for a walk into the centre of town. Short stop for the boys to have a photo with the statue (see photos), then a stop to listen to an orchestra. Finally went for a drink at a brewery before heading back for sleep.
