Hi Everyone!
We arrived in Nairobi yesterday afternoon at 1pm, our flight had been delayed but we got put up in a nice hotel in Bangkok. When we were flying into Kenya I expected to see houses or cities as soon as we hit the coast, but it was absolutely flat with nothing around for miles! When the plane got closer to Kenya there was still hardly any buildings or people. We thought it would be a bigger city since its the main capital city in east africa. On the drive from the airport to the hotel, we were stuck in traffic, the road is about 4 lanes wide, but no one keeps to the lanes, its just a mess of cars and trucks sitting 10cm apart and there were Africans walking in between the cars trying to sell random things like candy, picture frames, fruit, hats and even knives to everyone sitting in the cars. There were heaps of tarago-like vans that had about 5 rows of seat sitting 4 people on each row, as many people cramed into the it as possible!! There were people sleeping under trees on the side of the road just relaxing (dont think they were homeless, they seemed well dressed). Hotel is nice, the people are so friendly and really go out of there way to please us. We met some other people on our tour, they told us there room number but we couldnt remember which room it was, so one of the house keepers called Boniface (i know, awesome name) was just opening all the doors with his key to help us find them, dont think he is ment to do that, but we did find them! Today we are going to the Elephant orphanage and giraffe centre and the tour officially meets tonight before we head out tomorrow.
Update more later, Bek and Leigh!!!
