Fraser Island
DAY 1:
It was time for Fraser Island! Was so freaking excited, Dingo bloody tastic!
Met our car full. Once again bumped into Ed who was in our car and 3 other girls: Amanda, Becky & Hannah. All lovely & up for the trip! Our car radio was broken which sucked ass, but our 4x4 was pretty cool.
So we got the ferry over to Fraser with Ed taking the first driving shift. Instantly felt amazed & a strange sense of freedom racing down the beach at 80kph. Just awesome.
Our first stop was Eurong the kind of town on the island. Basically it had a shop and more importantly a bakery which did the best doughnuts I think I've ever had! First doughnut of many consumed in this first stop. We then went straight to Lake Mackenzie. I've heard from many people how gorgeous this place is but wow. It was the whitest sand, the clearest, crystal blue water & we had gorgeous shining sun. Spent time sunbathing & paddling in the lake. Definition of chilling out.
Before it got dark we headed to our spot to set up camp. We set up & got cooking dinner which was lovely. Then we all sat round & chatted & drank. We had a really good bunch on our trip so got to talk to most people from the rest of the group & had an awesome evening. Me & a lad called Jeff saw a UFO :o) and our camp actually got attacked by dingoes! We had left a food box out which we thought was secure. Ended up bringing in a pack of 4 of them who then ate all our food in that box! s***! Joe & Finlay chased them away, very brave! Becks & Hannah gooned it up & were pretty drunk so we all had a good night :o)
DAY 2:
Woke up at 6:30am already minging. s***, was only gonna get worse & smellier! I had to drive on this morning and I was s*** at driving on the sand but at least nobody died! We went to Eurong again & I wolfed another doughnut. Side note: I'm gaining weight faster than the sinking Titanic gained water! We then did a 2K hike through some rainforest full of spiders. I'm still s*** scared but I think I'm brave enough now to call myself Ray Mears. The hike led us to Lake Wabby which was at the bottom of an actual mountain of sand. It was crazy! The lads were running down the sand and diving into the lake. The weather was good so I got in & had a good swim.
It was coming up for lunch so We headed to Eli Creek which was the most beautiful spot and my favourite place on Fraser Island. You could walk in the creek and follow it round through the trees out to the beach. We had our lunch here and then drove up to Indian head & the Champagne Pools. We did some fishing, collected muscles and looked for sharks.
On the way back we played an A-Z singing game to entertain ourselves which cracked us all up...who needs a radio! I also busted out my Aussie tour guide accent to try & entertain the car!
That night back at camp we had burgers which were good!! Then I realised my camera had fallen out my bag into the sand at camp. Tried to switch it on but it was b*****ed. Beyond gutted. It put me in such a foul mood you wouldn't believe & I was so upset I took myself to bed early. This clearly makes me a d*** as I should have just got over it & carried on, but no I had to sulk like a child. We all make mistakes. Abrupt camera broken end to the evening.
DAY 3:
Oh Em Gee. Fraser over already! What the hell?! Got up & went straight to Eurong where I had my last doughnut. Parting is such sweet sorrow. Went to our last lake of the trip...Lake Beerbidie I think it was called. This is the lake that is supposed to give you good skin due to the PH balance in the water. I jumped straight in and soaked myself to try & get better skin! It didn't work I was just gross afterwards but never mind. I ended up with a few of the lads doing backflips into the lake. It was so much fun. I pretty much just belly flopped which is pretty hard to recover from in terms of styling it out!
It was them time to head home & I officially got us stuck in the sand, nearly broke the car & s***ted all my passengers up! What horrific driving. My bad. Got cleaned up when we finally made it back to Rainbow & we were in a room with loads of great people off our trip. Haydn arrived that night too so was great to catch up with him. Got ourselves down the bar for sone well needed grub!
Next thing I knew it was Karaoke night in the bar & I was doing duets with Hannah to 'Going in for the kill' & 'Ain't no mountain higher' and giving the solo treatment to the crowd on Cher's 'just like Jessie James', Dizzie & Calvin (yup I rapped again) and I did my best Marty McFly impression to Johnny B. Goode! Ended up pretty hammered & not in bed till 2:30 with a 7:30 OZ bus to catch, but did I care? No! It's undoubtedly been the best time of my life!
