Becky Bravo's Adventures
So, we subway-ed it over to Brooklyn, and Jon being the Magellen he is, guided us back to his RV. However, we got off about 3 subway stops too early and had to continue our day of walking even more to get to the RV. Which was all good. There is nothing like walking down the streets of Brooklyn. Luckily, they had a couple of fire hydrants spewing out cold water, which I definately took advantage of.
We arrive at the RV after about a 30 minute walk, and thank goodness the generator is on and the AC is on. We hung out for a bit with Jeremy, Bryan, and Marina (Jeremy's awesome girlfriend who came out to NY to surprise him). I actually took a nap for about an hour, then Jon and I went to get some dinner.
We found this AMAZING and cheap little turkish place. We also found the subway stop that would have only been a 5 minute walk back to the RV. For dinner Jon had a meat plate, and I had a zucchini pancake something or other. It was delicous.
So, now it is about 8pm, Luster does not go on until midnight. Lucky for everybody, the bar that they played at (Trash Bar) had an OPEN bar from 8-9. then we hung out at another bar for a while, and watched some of the other bands as well.
The band that waws supposed to go on before Luster never showed, so they got to go on a tad bit early. Sadly, a lot of the patrons of the bar left because this other band didnt show, so there was a gap between bands, but Luster put on an amazing show. Now, I know how good and talented my brother is, but seeing them perform live just solidified that for me even more. They are so awesome, I seriously dont know why they are not famous yet. They are so much cooler that most anything that is on the radio today. Good job Luster, hang in there!
So, the boys of Luster (and Marina) were ready to hang out more, but sadly, I had a LOOOOONG day of driving ahead of me the next day, so I went to bed, Now Jon gave me strict instructions - everybody had a key to the RV, so if anybody knocks on the door, DONT answer it! So, they were parked on just the street not too far from the bar, so I heard a few knocks on the side of the trailer, but it was all good. I was perfectly safe. Just passers by admiring the RV I believe. Now Jon was worried that they may wake me up when they got back, but let's face it. Anybody who knows me knows that I can sleep through anything, which I did. I guess they came in super late, but I heard nothing.
All in all, I had a super fun time in NY, and I am super glad that it worked out that I could hang with Jon and Luster. It was lucky that it worked out that we could be in the same place at the same time. That rarely happens with any of the Brubaker sibs.

Melody For more than ten years, I took the subway from Brooklyn to work and to play in Manhattan. Can you imagine that?Sounds like Luster was terrific. It is great that you got to meet up with Jon and the band. Sadly, there are MANY good musicians who are not "discovered" ~ YET! We will be able to say we knew them "when". M
