Hello from Noosa (That's a lie as we are in Surfer's - we are running behind on our blogs oops)
We had a very short bus/train journey into Noosa from Hervey Bay. It's amazing how the further south you get, how much each place changes.
Noosa is really beautiful but a little pretentious. The place as a whole is quite expensive but we managed to budget ;)
When we got there we were picked up by the hostel we were going to be staying at a night before our canoeing trip. We found the girls who worked at the hostel were quite abrupt and rude grrrr! It seems to be a common thing for us having to interact with rude people!
The night we arrived we went on the Noosa booze cruise. It was quite nice, very relaxing cruising up the noosa river on a very slow boat. I got to have a bundeburg rum and coke so I was happy. It went on for a bit long in my opinion but we managed to entertain ourselves by taking silly pictures. The sunset was beautiful. The guy who was running it that night was from Chester and made a few jokes about Norfolk. Kate managed to smile and bear it though.
After a night in an uncomfortable bed (which I couldnt be bothered to make properly) we headed out to the front of the hostel to wait for our pick-up for our canoe trip. I was really excited about this particular trip because Kate and I really wanted to camp. We met a few people from our hostel who were joining us on the trip and they were really nice and easy on the eyes ;)
First we headed to where we got our equipment for the trip and also to put our backpacks in a huge lock up. It was pretty secure. We got a black barrel each, and esky between two, a stove, a tent and cooking equipment. The boat was pretty weighed down. We all had to help get it in and out of the truck and then in and out of the boat. We headed across to the rangers station at the beginning of the river system. We were briefed (very shortly) and advised on what routes we should take. Only problem was that the only thing we could really do on our full day was do a 3k canoe ride and then a 12k walk and then a 3k canoe ride back - hell no lol - Kate and I decided to canoe the 3k but, I in particular, didn't want to walk up a huge hill to the sand patch. So we just chilled out read a book and canoed back.
Of course our first day on our trip was Kate's birthday. We made a fatal mistake. We didn't take enough Goon (cheap wine) to last us a whole night :( I think she had an okay time. We were pretty tired our first night so went to bed early. We slept well in our tents but woke up pretty stiff.
More to come later, I have to get off the net
