After being on the road for so long Sydney always felt like it was aaaages away yet here it was and the thing we had been looking forward to...a home for 2 whole weeks. We moved into our apartment in Sydney and it was really nice. We unpacked the rucksacks and hid them in the bottom of the wardrobe and plopped onto our sofa infront of our tv and we didnt have to share it was 30 other people, and to be honest that was where we spent a lot of the next 2 weeks. We did the usual sights, the rocks, the opera house, kings cross and the harbour bridge but that was about it to be honest we just chilled out.
However we had arrived in the season to be jolly so we set about getting the place festive, and buying xmas dinner (turkey sandwiches!) On the day itself we opened our prezzies i got a cuddly Kangaroo and a new handbag, Si got a book, and a sexy new moustache. We went down to the beach but its amazingly windy down there so soon retreated to a bar to continue our celebrations with some wine and company, after getting slightly woozy we headed home to call the folks and chille dout some more!
Next was NYE and Sydney is the place to be for this major celebration. We forgot the camera and had to buy a disposable one so no pics online but we'll bore you with those when we get home. We arrived at Mrs. Macaqries point at 3.30 queued for about an hour and settled in to wait for midnight, whilst drining probably far too much and eating too many hotdogs! But when the fireworks came they were incredible...amazing and they go off all around the harbour so they are infront to the side and behind lighiting up the opera house and the bridge...best dispaly i've ever seen. Getting home was fun both of us drunk trying to neotiate public transport!
But all in all had a brilliant time even if we didn't do all that much!
