The car (Roseta) we hired in Mebourne to drive the Great Ocean Road, was to be our mode of transport to Sydney it would work out cheaper (if I hadnt of got a parking ticket or got lost and had to pay a toll). So Melbourne to Sydney, on the map it looks like Brighton to London in reality it is Brighton to Aberdeen. We knew it was going to take close to 10 hours, so again we wanted to leave early in the morning so it would be easy to find our accomodation, again we left at midday. But this time we had stocked up on cut price easter eggs! So off we went with our chocolate and some top class cheesey music cds and some pure caffeine tablets for me to stay awake! The first sign we saw that was marked for Sydney read something silly like 927km. The car we had hired (upgrade) was an automatic sport saloon, very handy for the Melbourne to Sydney drive, what was very handy in it was the cruise control option! Because the roads we virtually straight the whole way my driving was reduced to getting to 110 kmph and pressing a button and when the speed reduced turning off the cruise control until we slowed down to set speed and then turning cruise control on. Thats all i did drve wise for 11 hours! Brilliant!

So we arrive in Sydney about midnight after a lap of the airport we head into the city centre and drive straight into bum-ville. After a sharp left we head out of there and find our hostel beautifully (i had been driving for 11 hours I was hallucinating, it was horrible). Once we arrivedd, we jumped straight into bed, after we made our beds and turned into the people we hate, as we had to faff about and ruffle plastic bags for 10 minutes! But the perfect end to the perfect day!

Next day started off just as lovely as I got up at the crack of dawn and return the hire car. This resulted in me driving around sydney on a beautiful morning, getting stuck in their one way system trying to find the first street I drove down and drove off. It was nice in a way, (although I have no doubt it increased my blood pressure a little) as i got to see some different parts of Sydney. After that it was a nice stroll back to the hostel to find Charlotte still asleep! After me falling asleep into my toast and jam, we go for a walk to find the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. After getting distracted trying to find an All day breakfast place, we head in the right direction and find them. There it is the Sydney Opera House, smaller than I thought and apparently in 3 bits, but still looks good through a camera lens. After a couple of hundred pictures of the Opera house we head for the bridge to find out about the bridge walk, we find out the price has trebled since a friend walked over it last year, so we decide to walk across it insted! Far better, and you get to take pictures!

The next day we went and sorted out (or not) our trip in Fiji and then we went and did the exciting stuff, Yes we went to an other soap set! This time Home and Away, we jumped on a us and headed up to Summer Bay (Palm Beach), home of the surf shack and surf club, who Alf Stewart is still President of apparently! After a walk up and down the beach, which is really nice by the way, we headed to Bondi Beach! Bondi is famous around the world for some reason or an other, we dont know what for and we never found out, but it was ok. But here we became true Aussies, we cooked some sausages on a bbq on the beach and yip it rained a little on us, just to remind us that we are Brits! After our hotdogs we strolled around a bit and headed back to miss the majority of earth hour but got off the train for the fireworks going off to celebrate using electricity again!!

Unfortunately that was all we got to do in Sydney but we keep telling ourselves thats all we needed to do! We would have liked longer but we took an extra day in crappy Cairns and a day too long on a stupid boat that went on fire, but these are the lessons you learn.

At this point I would like to sum up Australia.

I liked it, I liked alot, it had some great points, like Northern Australia, apparently doesnt get cold, they play sport and are good at it, so you dont feel like an idiot when your teams gets beat again!!!

Although there were some things that, well troubled me!

In some places, like Darwin, Carins and a few other smaller places, you would be walking along the footpath and then all of a sudden no footpath anymore, and there you are stuck in the middle of field! Now why start a path that isnt going to take you somewhere, I believe it is false advertising! They were able to make proper paths in Sydney, now why couldnt someone go up to the North of Australia and tell them that they need to finish the path!

Bats, they are too big, no one needs or more to the point wants a bat that big, please make your bats smaller!

In Northern Australia, when we got there it was rainy alot, many of the people we spoke to called this their rainy season. Fair enough it was still warm, but the weather was crap. So i informed them that we also had a rainy season in the UK, we called it winter!!!! Get over admit you have a winter! When it gets colder than yur summer and starts to rain that means its winter!

Who on earth charges @ pounds for a chocolate bar! Honestly they are 50p back home, they use the same ingredients, I am pretty sure they make them in the same way, ther is no way you can charge 4 times the price for a kit-kat chunky. Also with this, I am down grading australia to a 2nd world country until it starts to sell Peanut Kit Kat Chunkys

Apart from that Oz is great!
