Watch out world the Barkers are coming!
Well we're back in proper civilization! Many thanks to Ed and Seb for the message (and the expected sex photos(whats taking so long?))! Sorry to hear about aya's bag! Buenos Aires is everything it has been built up to be, i'm so glad we changed our plans to miss out chile and do Argentina instead!
First of all let me say "3-2 to the EN-ger-land" oph how i enjoyed that! I have to admit to not watching the whole game, we saw the first half and thourghly enjoyed it, but fifteen minutes into the second half we had to leave to get our bus! didn't know the final score till we got to salta and i had to ask the Argentine owner of our hostel if he knew the score! he told me that Rooney was world class and even some kid called beckham did ok!?!
Enough football...for now...we left Uyuni in bolivia which seemed a little like most kids had only one set of Grandparents (cheers ed), and they were very local people! we left after lots of waiting around and ended up in Villazon on the Bolivia, Argentina border. got through the Bolivia side no hassle at all, then the Argentine side took about 2hours cos they wanted everything paper based and on the computer...only no one knew how to type!!!! still we got to La Quica on the Argentine side eventually at about 10 am, and found a place to watch the match. Only for it not to be on till 1:45 pm and our bus left at 3pm...shoulda got the early bus!
From La Quica we went on to Salta, the journey was supposed to take 9 hours...it took thirteen!!! it felt like we were stopped every 20 miles or so at checkpoints where we had to get off, prove who we were and have our bags rummaged through! one of these took two hours all on its own!!! but Salta ended up being a reall nice place, boith of us showered and retired to bed that evening to get ready for our luxury bus ride the next day. We got up and had breakfast in the plaza under scorching hot sun, it seemed a shame to be leaving Salta so soon but, time waits for no man...not even me(how rude)!
So... the bus ride...WOW! it was amazing, for the equivelant of fifty quid, we got seats that laid all the way back without squashing anyone, a hostess, loads of food, free drinks, free wine, sweets, three films, an amazing electrical storm most of the way and free champers!!! safe to say i was impressed. After a fantastic nights sleep, we arrived in Buenos Aires and it was a glorious day!!! we got to the hostel later on and... it was fully booked, so we asked for directions to another that was clkose by and because of my fantastic map reading skills we went the wrong way in sweltering heat with backpácks!! eventually we found the hostel and after a S,S and an S, we went out shopping we spent alot but got much need clothes for NZ and Aus. will update again soon.
ENG-ER LAND 3, ARGIES 2 - so bad,yet so,so good!!!
