We arrived in Agadir and immediately noticed the complete contrast to anywhere else we had been in Morocco. Agadir was devastated by an earthquake in 1960 and was subsequently rebuilt into an underwhelming scruffy, tacky, out of date sea side town. We had to re-trace our steps a but and go back to the village which was the filmset for may films which we previously visited on our bikes. The drive out of the Gorge was just as spectacular as the drive in. As we left Ouarzazate the terrain became more desert like but still mountainous. We pssed through several Berber villages in valleys thick with stunning palm trees. At the end of a wide valley is tthe mafnificant Todra Gorge. A massive fault in the plateu dividing the High Atlas from the Jebel Sarho with a crystal clear river emerging from it. We arrived at Ourzazate a small town which was once a Foreign Legion outpost and is also Hollywood in the desert as my films including Gladiator and the Last Temptation of Christ have been made in the area. They even have a film studios which we will visit which houses the plane used in Jewel in the Nile.
