We left Newman after buying a new tyre for the van costing $280 and anticipated to reach Mount Robson our next free camp site early so we could relax and explore the small gorge at the base. About 25 km out of Newman on a skinny bit of road and on a bend the care blew a tire!!! Dad had jinxed it earlier by say we should be right with tyres now!!!! We could have repaired the tyre but because we had to drive about 100 metres up the road to get out of the way of the road trains the tyre was completely shredded!!! The change over was quite precarious bacause as the road trains came wizzing pased the car wobbled on the jack. Mum had to walk up the road and call on the hand held radio to the trucks to warn them to slow down. The whole senario was a bit stressful and I had to sit in the car the whole time but I got a shmacko for being so good so I didn't mind. Once we got to Mt robson we all had a beer slurp to un wind about the slightly traumatic event. Hey but this is what traveling is all about!! Adventure and excitement!!!! Oh and the scenery is stunning so well worth it!!! happy birthday Pete!!! xxx
