10th, 11th & 12th - Austria
We left Slovenia, drove through Italy, drove in and then out of Austria into Germany then back to Austria to our accommodation about 40km outside Innsbruck. What an amazing day of driving taking in views from 4 different countries, most of our time was spent driving in and through the Alps. With breathtaking sights of beautiful little villages with big green hills leading up to massive sheer cliff faces, it truly was picturesque.
We walked around the area of Fernsteinsee and explored the castle, before taking a beautiful drive through the Austrian country side to Imst, taking in the quintessential scenery.
We took a drove out of Austria, North to Germany to find Ludwig's famous castles. We quickly found the amazing Neushwanstein high on the hill overlooking the area. This is the castle that the Disney castle is based on. With the temperature not registering over 2 degrees, it was definitely time for some hearty German cuisine, so we headed to the cute town of Garmisch, to grab a mighty goulash soup.
