well...... so much have we done since last sending a message from yonder!rnAn eventful overnight bus took us to the delightful city of Tuxtla, which infact was not that delightful but in fact just another city..... however it lead us to the natural wonder if the Sumidero Canyon. rnIn the heat of the midday sun, we decided to brave a fast and somewhat furious boat trip with a whole bunch of excited mexicans on holiday.rnafter cramming ourselves into a row of seats and practically frazzling, whilst waiting for three men to hoist an elderly mexican lady into the front seat of the boat (incidently after all this trouble she slept through most of the tour) we finally set off and with the breeze moving over our 3 inch layer of suncream we saw the amazing sights of the canyon.absoultely breath taking! (and we saw baby aligators!! and a monkey)rnrnmoving on, just spent 2 glorious days in Palenque where we were able to check out the awesome jungle ruins whilst literally sweating our asses off!rnThe Mayen people were truely amazing and their level of arcitecture and understanding of the natural world was so advanced! (incidently they have predicted the world to end in 2012!)rnrnHad the lovely oppertunity to swim in the famous Agua azul waterfalls, entertaining yet again some of the mexican men population! also the kids when jen falls off of the rope swing :SrnrnJust got another delightful overnight bus to Tulum, and, although we went for the err '2nd' class option to save money - we were happy to find out that it did at least have seats :D hehe loving how our spanish vocab didnt extend to do the seats recline!rnthis time the journey did have a bit of excitment when we were stopped by armed men in army uniform and everyone had to get off and have all their bags searched.rnironically, the 4 of us (the only english and girls on the bus) obviously had to have about 8 men to search their bags! we were the first to go and the the last to finsh hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm so 38 other people went through quicker than us..... did we look suspicious?no... turns out that tampons may contain drugs and are a good starting point for a mexican chat up line!!!rnrnanyway..... me and alice got breakfast and are chilling whilst the other two snooze in our scary double bunk bed :Drnrnsee you all soon lots of love jen and alice! xxx
