Nigel: Our next journey was from Santiago (Chile) to Mendoza (Argentina). This involved an 8 hour bus journey, crossing the land border between the 2 countries, and passing through one of the biggest mountain ranges in the world, the Andes. We had to ascend for around an hour and our heads started to feel funny due to the altitude and the quickness of the ascend. We were so high, we were passing ski resorts which are used during the winter but were closed when we went through. The road getting up was a gradual but windy road. Eventually we levelled out and we were soon at the border check point of the 2 countries. The immigration was painfully slow and boring and lasted for about 3 hours. Once we got through we set off and arrived in Mendoza a few hours later.
