Day One Hundred Forty Seven June 1
Wow where has the time gone. It was only a short time ago that Janice and I were boarding Insignia for our journey. How things have changed since; we are into our last full month.
Our arrival time in Ronne 09:00 with a chance of rain again. Although it is cloudy the rain does not appear at any time during our stay.
A huge crane and barge are in the harbour with what looks like wind turbines that I assumed were being installed off shore. During our time in Scandinavia I have seen many wind turbines either on land or in the North Sea.
Ronne is the capital of the island of Bornholm just off the coast of Denmark. The city of Ronne was largely rebuilt after WWII as the Russians bombarded the city as Germans were using it as an outpost.
As we cruised into the port, huge wind turbines were noticeable on the countryside. Little did I know that we would riding bicycles by them later in the day.
The decision today was to rent bikes from Bornholms Cykeludlejning and just ride around the island. No identification was required to rent the bicycles so off we went with Keith and Ilona. Our journey took us along the coast through wooded areas and pass the villages of Sorthat-Muleby and Hasle.
Fifteen kilometers out it was time to turn around and head back to Ronne however a refueling stop was needed for the journey back so a baguette with ham and cheese was purchased with a soda for me and a wine for Janice.
On our return there was sufficient time to visit the Old Town in Ronne before returning to the ship and our sail to Kiel Germany 173 nautical miles away.
Farvel (goodbye) from Denmark.
