Day Sixty One - March 7
Last evening the cruise director made an annoucement that the seas might be a rocking overnight. You could certainly feel the motion of the ocean.
Again we were in port prior to our arrival time of 09:00. In port today was the Mein Schiff II, a German based ship with guest capacity of 2,900. The Norwegian Dawn also sailed into port while we were at breakfast. Its guest capacity 2,340.
As well as these ships H.M.S. Medway of the Royal Navy was in port.
Antigua is allowing visitors from cruise ships at this time. Our next port is Dominica which will only allow ship tour passengers to visit their island. That is three islands so far during our stay in the Caribbean that are preventing passengers to visit the island independently. Before getting off the ship, we learned that Jamaica has also joined the list. No independent guests allowed off the ship.
So off we went to visit Nelson's Dockyard in Falmouth. There were many luxury boats in the harbour here as our taxi driver informed us that sailing week was coming up soon.
Our trip concluded with a swim at Turner's Beach. It was a beautiful beach with soft sand, blue waters and of course a restaurant/bar. Janice mentioned that there are 365 beaches in Antigua, one for every day of the year. We certainly enjoyed this isand and would consider it for a beach holiday.
Once back in St. John's Janice and I met up with our friend Cliff from the earlier part of the cruise. I was suppose to watch a cricket match with him on March 8 the original date to stop in Antigua but this was changed to today instead. As we call it, it's the mystery cruise.
The ship left St. John's at 19:00 for Dominica, 133 nutical miles away.
