Day Fifty Eight and Fifty Nine March 4-5
Today is the start of two days in Bridgetown commencing with the PCR test our fifth by my recollection.
The harbour was filled with Cruise ships from RCCL - Explorer of the Seas (Guest capacity 4,290), Regent Cruise Line Seven Seas Mariner (Guest Capacity 700) and P&O Cruises - The Azure (Guest Capacity 3,100). Only The Regent ship is of similar size to our ship.
Janice had taken our friend Hedy to the Ophtamologist as she was having vision problems. Luckily it wasn't too serious.
I tagged along with two couples for a visit to Carlisle Beach near the cruise port for a day of snorkeling above a ship wreck that sank in 1914. There were many fish swimming in and around the ship using it like a reef.
A wonderful evening was had at the Polo Steakhouse and then onto to show. After the show at 10:30pm the girls decided we should walk into town for a beverage.
Off the ship we went but nothing was open in the cruise terminal so it was back to the ship.
Second Day in Barbados
Well three additional ships joined us in the harbour this morning. The Explorer of the Seas departed on her cruise. Those additional ships in port included The Star Clipper (Guest Capacity 227), Seabourn Odyssey arrived overnight (Guest Capacity 450) and Windstar The WindSurf (Guest Capacity 312).
I returned to Carlisle Beach again with Janice as she wanted to snorkel. Using the same company, Harbour Lights, we explored a different ship wreck. The fish were just as plentiful and even a green turtle spent some time at the wreck with us.
Climbing back on to the snorkel boat we were told of the two ship wrecks, that being the Bajan Queen and MV Trident.
