Well we are getting pretty close to starting our overseas family holiday through parts of south-east Asia, since we fly out in just under a week. We will be gone for one month. Just about everything that we have decided to have pre-booked is finalised - we are making a few changes to our hotel bookings for southern Thailand. While not absolutely necessary these changes have come about because Georgie has to return to Australia earlier than the rest of us to take up a positon in the Air Force. This means we can go from two hotel rooms to one for the last week of the trip, which may save us a couple of dollars. It also means we will probably now also fly from Ao Nang, Krabi to Kuala Lumpur (rather than go by train) and spend one extra night there than originally planned. This is probably not a bad idea as it means we will be finishing the trip in a more relaxed way, hopefully will return to Australia not feeling like we need a holiday to get over the holiday!

I suppose the main reason for this blog is to test how this site works, since this is something we haven't tried before. Hopefully it turns out to be useful and we can update it on a regular basis so all our friends and family can keep track of where we are at and how we are going.

Anyway, unless something noteworthy happens between now and next Saturday i expect the next blog will be from Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) city on the 2nd or 3rd of January.
