hiya, i am i glad to be back in the real world, iv spent the last 11 days living in a buddhist monastry in the jungle .
what an amazing experience..
as i tend to do, i didnt do as much research as i should of done because i got a few shocks and surprises when i first arrived!!!!
1. NO TALKING!!!! (FOR 10 DAYS)
2. UP AT 4.00AM. BED AT 9.15PM
3. SLEEPING ON A CONCRETE BED WITH A (BUDDHA) WOODEN PILLOW.
4.ONLY BREAKFAST AT 8.00AM AND DINNER AT 12.30 PM/VEGETERIAN FOOD!!
5. NO SUNBATHING, KNEES AND SHOULDERS HAD TO BE COVERED.
6.ONE AND A HALF HOURS OF YOGA, STARTING AT 5.15AM
7.5 HOURS OF MEDITATION A DAY
8.3 HOURS OF LECTURES.
..........whatever you may think about the schedule i have had a fantastic time, sometimes boring, often hilarious and very testing!!!
i am pleased to say i did england proud and lasted the whole course..
we werent allowed any books ,phones or music as these are destractions.we started with 120 people and probably between 30/40 people left( which at times i felt like doing.) it is very strange living with that many people and not making any sound or communicating with each other and it has taught me a lot about myself and how my mind works. on the last night we were invited up to the front to describe our experiences and was amazed to find out how similar everybodys was.the next morning when we were allowed to talk was a fantastic time, finding out the person you thought was a german was actally an accountant from london and the bloke you thought was from greece was actually from columbia!!.i have made some fantastic friends who i will definately try to stay in contact with.on the last day we were allowed to take photo's but the computer i am on will not let me down load them so they will follow shortly.
RAILAY BEACH
once i was released from suam mokk i made a mad dash to the world famous railay beach, the one from the james bond film, for some R&R. I AM GLAD TO SAY IT DOESN'T DISSAPOINT!!! it is just like the film(dr no, i think).i am gona chill here for a few days then i have to go to burma to renew my visa.
