Tonight I am staying at the Rotorua Central Backpackers, in Rotorua. Yesterday morning Meagan and I spent about an hour and a half at Hot Water Beach, about a 30 minute drive from Whitianga. We walked along the white sandy beach until we reached a section of the beach where people were digging holes in the sand, bringing up thermally heated/boiling water from below the beach. People invited us to share the holes that they had already dug, as we didn't bring a shovel of our own. The water was so warm, that sometimes it burnt your skin. This water was warmer than any shower we had had in New Zealand so far. The waves of the crystal blue coloured ocean, crashed one after another against the beautiful beach. One lady that I sat beside, took pictures of my tattoo( all humans are born free and equal in dignity and rights), as she was writing a novel about hitchhiking in New Zealand, and she said my tattoo described the reason she was writing it. She gave a list of contacts of people i could later contact for work if i needed it. After about an hour of soaking in the hot pool, i went for a swim to catch some waves in the chilly blue sea. After Hot Water Beach, we went hiking to Cathedral Cove. Cathedral Cove was absolutley gorgeous!!! White sandy beaches leading underneath a huge arch formation through a rock. That night, we headed to the Blacksmith Pub, where we met the coolest cats in Whitianga, Ben and Allistair. We spent the night slamming back Canadian Clubs and Coke, and laughing at each others lives and accents. I met a dreadlock sporting fellow named Zane, who later got kicked out of the pub for peeing on the wall... So Whitianga was a bunch of awesome but drunk hippies haha. That was a funny night, that began the next day off with a wicked hangover, but hey, it's a hangover in New Zealand, so we stay possitive. Nothing can go wrong, unless we get deported... haha. I'm happy Meagan came with me, she's fun to be with. It was a long and rainy drive to Rotorua, and now we are here and exhasted. Our car is treating us well. Off to bed. Peace!
